Women's Soccer Falls To Carolina U At Home

CARY, N.C. – William Peace was searching for its second consecutive women's soccer win to start the season, but lost 2-0 to Carolina U at WakeMed Soccer Park on Wednesday.

The contest was the second of a four-game homestand to start the season. The Pacers (1-1 overall) opened Saturday with a 2-0 win over Warren Wilson but Wednesday was a different outcome.

William Peace had few opportunities at the net as it attempted five shots. The Pacers would strike only twice in the second half.

A first-half shot from the corner almost scored, however. The ball appeared on target as it swerved toward the net, only to bounce off the post.

Meanwhile, the Bruins (2-1 overall) attempted 19 shots, including 13 in the second half. The visitors eventually scored twice for their second straight win over the Pacers. Last year, the Bruins won 2-1 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Pacers' goalies Gaby Vazquez and Mackenzie Kirk survived the barrage of shots for much of the game. Vazquez, who started, tallied six saves and Kirk collected four after entering the second half.

William Peace will look to regroup against Randolph on Saturday at WakeMed Soccer Park. Kickoff is 2:30 p.m.
