Men's Soccer Faces Bridgewater in Home Opener Wednesday

RALEIGH, N.C. – After playing two road games in three days, William Peace makes its first home appearance of the regular season as part of a soccer doubleheader Wednesday.

The Pacers (1-1-0 overall) will host Bridgewater in men's soccer action at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. starting at 7 p.m. This will be the second game of the day, following the Pacers' women's game versus NAIA member Carolina U at 4:30 p.m.

Admission is free.

Bridgewater will be the third consecutive ODAC opponent for the Pacers, who bounced back from a 2-1 loss against Averett Friday to beat Guilford 3-0 Sunday. William Peace will attempt to build on Sunday's win against Bridgewater, which won last year's meeting 5-1 in Virginia.

The season series is tied 1-1-1 in the last three games. The last time both teams played in Cary, the game ended in a 2-2 tie in 2022. The Pacers won 2-1 on the road in 2019.

Stellar forward Jorge Lemus is off to a strong start. He has two goals after two games and teammates Gavin Beaupre and Zach Marlier have one goal each while Ethan Gillette has one assist. Goalkeeper Rafa Quevodo-Antunez anchored a shutout and recorded an assist in the Guilford win.

The Eagles (0-1-1 overall) are searching for their first victory. Bridgewater tied St. Vincent 1-1 on Friday and lost to Ferrum 2-0 on Sunday. The Pacers contest will be their second consecutive on the road.
