Women's Soccer Falls In USA South Conference Opener

STAUNTON, Va. – Emma Mayer scored the only goal for William Peace in a 2-1 women's soccer loss to Mary Baldwin Saturday in the USA South conference opener.

Mayer scored around the 40-minute mark of the first half to tie the score 1-1. Mary Baldwin (1-3-2 overall) scored late in the second half to down the Pacers (2-2-1 overall). 

Goalkeeper Gaby Vazquez totaled five saves for the Pacers, who were outshot 13-8 including 10-5 in the second half. The Pacers play again Tuesday against USA South foe Pfeiffer at WakeMed Soccer Park Tuesday. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
