Pacers Down Mary Baldwin 4-2 In USA South Women's Tennis Opener

STAUNTON, Va. – William Peace picked the right time to get its first women's tennis victory on Sunday.

William Peace defeated Mary Baldwin 6-3 at the host's tennis courts. The Pacers are 1-3 overall but, more importantly, are 1-0 in the USA South Conference.

The Pacers took four wins in singles and two in doubles. Kala Price won 6-3, 6-0 in No. 1 singles and Camryn Straughn won 4-1 (retired) in No. 2 singles. Jayla Durham was victorious 6-3, 6-3 in No. 5 singles and Erica McRay won by default in No. 6 singles.

The tandem of Price and Straughn captured No. 1 doubles 8-4 and the team of Durham and McRay won No. 3 doubles by default.

The Pacers will make their first appearance at home on Tuesday, March 19, against North Carolina Wesleyan at Lions Park. The USA South match begins at 2 p.m.
