Straughn Wins On Senior Day; Women's Tennis Team Qualifies For USA South Tourney

RALEIGH, N.C. – Camryn Straughn of William Peace celebrated Senior Day with a victory in women's tennis against Pfeiffer at Lions Park on Saturday.

Straughn won in No. 2 singles 6-0, 7-5 in the final home match of her four-year career, the longest tenure of any Pacer tennis player this season. She produced the only win for the Pacers in an 8-1 defeat to the Falcons.

Before the match, Straughn and teammates Jayla Durham and Jasseli Gutierrez were honored along with three players on the WPU men's tennis team during a pre-match senior ceremony.

Despite the loss, the Pacers will qualify for the USA South Conference Tournament as the No. 8 seed. The Pacers will visit top seed N.C. Wesleyan in a first-round match on Tuesday, April 23. The match will start at 5 p.m. in Rocky Mount, N.C.

The Pacers are making their first USA South Tournament appearance since 2014.
