The Pacers lost 3-1 in the first game and 7-4 in the second game to fall to 8-10 overall. They will host Ferrum in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, March 20, at the WPU Softball Complex starting at 1 p.m.

Ayers and Shelton both hit home runs in the second game. Ayers launched a solo shot over the left centerfield fence for a 1-0 lead in the first inning. It was her first homer of the season.

The Maroons (7-5 overall) scored twice in bottom of the first and added two runs in the third for a 4-1 lead. The Pacers pulled within one on Shelton's two-run homer over the left centerfield fence that also scored Kierston Cox, who reached base on a single. Shelton's homer was her first of the season.

After the Maroons scored two runs in the bottom fourth, Kimberly Bordeaux scored Ayers on an RBI single in the fifth for the Pacers. Her hit closed the gap to 6-4, but the Maroons scored in the sixth for the final score.

Ayers drove in the Pacers' only run in the first game. Her RBI single scored Lydia Hunt, who reached base on a walk.

The Pacers led 1-0 until the fourth inning when a two-out error and RBI single allowed Roanoke to score twice for a 2-1 lead. The Maroons added a run in the fifth for the eventual final score.
