GREENSBORO, N.C. - William Peace got outplayed in the second half by the Blazers from Belhaven University (Miss.) in the Guilford Invitational at Ragan-Brown field house on Sunday evening.
The Pacers came out strong and held the lead until 4:25 to go in the first half, only trailing by 5 at halftime.
Belhaven broke out into a 24-8 run to start the second half, and it was all Blazers from there. The Pacers shot 26.2% from the field and were 11-41 on 3PT shots.Â
"Super proud of our effort for 36 minutes of the game" Head Coach Claude Shields said, "I thought we let go of the rope for the 1st four minutes of the 2nd half, which we can't do against any team, much less one as good as Belhaven. We did some positive things defensively and on the glass - which we are excited about moving forward. We play good teams like this for a reason! It will help us as we continue to get better for the start of conference play next week!"Â
Michael Dulin led the way with 9 points, and Elijah Green and Ryan Lominack both tallied 8 points. Connor Ballou added 7 of his own in the last 3 minutes of play.Â
The Pacers fall to 2-7 and will face Sewanee tomorrow at 2PM to finish out the Guilford Holiday Classic Tournament.
