Men's Soccer Visits N.C. Wesleyan In USA South Semifinals Wednesday

All-Conference Freshman Midfielder Zach Marlier Made A Major Impact On The Pacers This Season
RALEIGH, N.C. – Only one game stands between William Peace and the USA South men's soccer championship game.

The No. 4 seed Pacers take on No. 1 seed N.C. Wesleyan in the conference semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 6, in Rocky Mount, N.C. Game time is 2:30 p.m.

A victory would put the Pacers in the title game for the second time in three years. In order to reach the finals, they have to get past N.C. Wesleyan, which posted a 7-0 record in conference games during the regular season. One of the victories was a 2-1 road win over William Peace in early October.

But the Pacers (7-6-3 overall) have been hot as of late. They have outscored their opponents 11-1 during a four-game win streak, including a 3-0 first-round win over No. 5 seed Methodist at home.

The win put the Pacers in the semifinals for the fifth straight year. The Battling Bishops (9-3-4 overall) received a first-round bye.

The Pacers are led by all-conference stalwarts Gavin Beaupre, Jorge Lemus and Zach Marlier. Lemus, a senior forward who is the program's career goals and points leader, has eight goals and three assists this season. Beaupre, a sophomore defender, has played a key role in the Pacers' defense, which has posted three shutouts during the streak.

Marlier, a freshman midfielder, has played stellar in the middle of the field. Junior forward Ausar Omwenga has contributed six goals and two assists and junior midfielder Nathan Cochran has dished out three assists.

The Battling Bishops are led by all-conference first team players Tiago Feler, Carson Evans and Bastien Dechamps. Feler, a forward, has a team-high six goals in addition to two assists. Dechamps, a defender, has three goals and two assists.
