Men's Soccer Makes First-Ever NCAA Tournament Appearance Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace will face Mary Washington on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. in its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament.

The Pacers earned their first-ever automatic bid after winning their first USA South Conference title on Saturday. Jorge Lemus scored the game-winning goal in overtime to top two-time champion Brevard 2-1. It is the first time that William Peace has claimed a conference title in any sport as a Division III member.

The winner will take on the Ohio Wesleyan-Catholic winner on Sunday in a second-round game at 1 p.m.  Ohio Wesleyan and Catholic meet in a first-round game on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

William Peace (9-6-3 overall) enters Saturday's first-round contest on a six-game winning streak. Mary Washington, based out of Fredericksburg, Md., was ranked No. 1 in the nation most of the regular season. A two-time Final Four participant, Mary Washington (17-1-2 overall) defeated Christopher Newport 3-2 in overtime for its third straight Coast-To-Coast Conference title.

Lemus, the program's career goals and points leader, paces William Peace with eight goals and three assists. Ausar Omwenga has six goals and three assists and Gavin Beaupre has three goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Ayden Miller, a starter since the beginning of the win streak, has allowed only three goals in six games.

Mary Washington is led by Carter Berg and Sammy Amorose. Berg leads the Eagles with 14 goals and has seven assists while Amorose has 12 goals and six assists.

  • FREE parking will be available adjacent to the track facility. VIP parking is $20 and is located behind the north goal at the ticket booth.
