Volleyball Takes On Salem In USA South Semifinals Thursday

RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 6 seed William Peace will continue its USA South Tournament run at No. 2 Salem for a volleyball semifinal matchup Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7:15 p.m. The price is $10 for general admission and $5 for children under age 12.

The winner will advance to the championship match on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the site of the higher seed. The opponent will be No. 5 seed Meredith or No. 1 seed Southern Virginia.

Thursday's semifinal will be the third match between the Pacers and Spirits. Both teams split during the regular season. Salem won 3-1 at home Oct. 5 and William Peace won at home 3-1 Nov. 2.

The Pacers (18-15 overall) are on a roll heading into Thursday's match. They have won five of their last six matches including the last three. On Tuesday, they stunned No. 3 seed Methodist 3-0 on the road in the first round.

William Peace is back in the finals after a runner-up appearance in 2022. Eleven players on that squad are on the current roster, including outside hitter Jordan Juanes, middle hitter/blocker Georgia Grace Anderson and outside hitter Chassie Jacops.

In Tuesday's first-round win over Methodist, Jacops led the Pacers with 10 kills and five block assists. Anderson added nine kills, one solo block and five block assists and Juanes had seven kills and two aces. The Pacers tallied 11 aces, 11 blocks and posted a .270 hitting percentage.

Salem (29-5 overall) is on a five-match win streak after falling to William Peace. The Spirits defeated No. 7 seed Brevard 3-0 in the first round Tuesday.
