Men's Soccer Hosts Methodist In USA South First-Round Game Saturday

Nathan Cochran Is The Assist Co-Leader WIth Three

RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 4 seed William Peace will host No. 5 seed Methodist in a USA South Tournament first-round men's soccer game at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, Nov. 2. Admission is free to the contest, which starts at 1 p.m.

The Pacers (6-6-3 overall) ended the regular season on a three-game winning streak, including a 2-1 victory over the Monarchs (6-7-4 overall) last Saturday (Oct. 26) that propelled them to the No. 4 seed and a first-round home game.

The winner will visit top-seed N.C. Wesleyan in the tournament semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at a time to be announced. The top two seeds in the six-team tournament received a first-round bye. All tournament games are played at the site of the higher seeded team.

The duo of Jorge Lemus and Ausar Omwenga spark the Pacers offensively. Lemus and Omwenga are sixth and seventh, respectively, in the conference in goals per game. Lemus, the program's career goals leader, leads the Pacers in goals (6) and assists (3) and Omwenga has five goals and two assists.

Gavin Beaupre has contributed three goals and one assist and Brennan Lagana has produced two goals and one assist. Nathan Cochran is tied with Lemus for the team assist lead with three.

Defensively, the Pacers are 3-0 since goalkeeper Ayden Miller entered the starting lineup. The defense, anchored by Miller, has given up only one goal in that stretch.

The Monarchs are led by Steven Floyd, who is second in the USA South in goals (9) and goals per game.
