Pacers Fall To Pfeiffer On The Road

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The William Peace men's basketball team was in striking distance in the first half, but its deficit widened after halftime in a 96-78 loss to Pfeiffer at Merner Gym on Saturday.

Beau Bryant finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three steals and Timothy Pettiford added 22 points for the Pacers, who trailed 40-36 at the break. Bryant buried five three-pointers in the game.

Pettiford scored 12 points and Bryant added 10 points during a 26-11 Pacers' run to erase a 15-point first-half deficit. Malachi Borders capped the rally with a layup to tie the game at 36-36 with one minute remaining before halftime.

The Falcons (4-3 USA South, 7-7 overall) scored the last four points before halftime for a 40-36 lead. They started the second half on a 14-6 spurt as the Pacers fell behind by 12. The contest stayed in double digits the rest of the game.

Shawn Jones chipped in 10 points and six rebounds and Ryan Lominack netted seven points for the Pacers, who outrebounded the Falcons 14-9 on the offensive glass. William Peace (3-5 USA South, 8-11 overall) was 12 of 16 from the free throw line for 75 percent in the second half.

Donte Forrester-Jhagroo scored 15 points to lead five scorers in double figures for Pfeiffer, who outscored the Pacers 56-42 in the second half. The Falcons scored 54 points in the paint and 44 bench points.

The Pacers are home in four of their remaining six regular-season contests. They will host N.C. Wesleyan at the Hermann Athletic Center on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m.
