Pacers Split With Mary Baldwin On Senior Day

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University softball split with Mary Baldwin University, winning game one 4-3 in extra innings before falling 4-3 in game two.

KEY POINTS
Game One
  • The first four innings would remain scoreless with a battle between pitchers Katherine Murphy and Emily McCreery.
  • A bunt from Angelina Jones would help bring in Reanna Braswell for a 1-0 lead for the Pacers in the 5th, while a sac fly from Adanya Day would put them up 2-0.
  • The Fighting Squirrels would get on the board at the top of the 6th with a sacrifice fly and a homerun to tie it 2-2. They would take a 3-2 lead in the 8th on an error. A single from Anna Suggs would score Logan Ayers for a 3-3 game in the bottom of the 8th, while a walkoff single from Rachel Mori would give the Pacers the 4-3 win.
Game Two
  • Mary Baldwin would take a 1-0 lead in the first with a double to right center. A triple from Anna Suggs and a single from Taryn Shelton in the 3rd would bring the score to 3-1 in the third in favor of the Pacers.
  • In the 5th, Mary Baldwin would take a 4-3 lead with two singles and a double. The Pacers would be unable to rally in the final innings and would fall 4-3.
PACER TOP PERFORMERS FOR THE FOES
  • Emily Hall went 2 for 3 in game two for the Falcons.
