RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University softball opened the Grand Slam Triangle Classic with two wins as they took down Rhode Island 2-0 and Marymount 5-3.

KEY POINTS
Game One
- The first few innings would be a battle between pitchers as both teams were strong defensively. Rachel Mori would get the Pacers on the board in the bottom of the 3rd with a homerun to lead 1-0.
- Rhode Island would tie it 1-1 at the top of the 4th with a single to center field, but a double from Preston Hawkins in the bottom of the 5th would bring home Mori for a 2-1 lead. The Pacers would shut down Rhode Island in the final innings for a 2-1 win.
Game Two
- The Saints would take an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a homerun from S. Emig. A sacrifice fly in the 4th would give them a 2-0 lead before a homerun from Taryn Shelton would bring in Anna Suggs at the top of the 5th to tie it 2-2.
- The Saints would take a 3-2 lead after scoring in the bottom of the 5th on a wild pitch. At the top of the 6th, a single from Logan Ayers would score Angelina Jones to tie it 3-3. A single from Anna Suggs would bring in Adanya Day and Megan McAnany to put the Pacers up 5-3 and they would hold the Saints to take the win.

- A. Kidd would notch 9 strikeouts for Rhode Island in game one.
- S. Emig went 3 for 3 in game two with one homerun.
NEXT GAME
The Pacers will continue in the Grand Slam Triangle Classic with a 10 AM matchup against Oberlin and a 2PM start against Randolph tomorrow, March 5th.
