RALEIGH, NC -- Men's and women's tennis opened conference play against Mary Baldwin University, with the men sweeping the Fighting Squirrels 9-0 and the women falling 7-2.
MARY BALDWIN UNIVERSITY - MEN'S
Daniel Hidalgo and
Benjamin Fleming would pick up an 8-3 doubles win in the #1 spot, with
Patrick Buckler and
Angel Araiza winning 8-0 in the #2 spot.
Michael York and
Ivan Ponce would win by default in the #3 spot.
In singles, Fleming would go 6-3, 6-1 in the #1 spot. Buckler would pick up a 6-1, 6-2 win at #2, while Hidalgo would sweep the #3 6-0, 6-0. Araiza would put up a 6-0, 6-1 win in the #4 spot, with Ponce and York picking up default wins to round out the 9-0 win for the Pacers.
MARY BALDWIN UNIVERSITY - WOMEN'S
Camryn Straughn and
Hayley McNair would fall in a tiebreaker in the #1 doubles spot to Katlyn Massie and Gretchen Lutz by a score of 8-7.
Mya Sampson and
Abbie Papale would fall in the #2 doubles spot 8-0, while
Kaitlyn Bliss and
Hailey Gilliam would fall 8-0 in the #3 spot.
McNair would pick up an 8-5 win at #1 singles over Katlyn Massie, while Straughn would take down Gretchen Lutz in the #2 spot.
The Pacers will host Johnson & Wales University on March 22nd at 3PM.
