Box Score 1 RALEIGH, NC -- Men's and women's tennis opened the regular season with a weekend road trip to Randolph College, Ferrum College, and Mary Baldwin University. The men's team would fall to Randolph College 5-4 before taking 7-2 wins over Ferrum and Mary Baldwin. The women would fall 8-1 against a tough Randolph squad before falling 6-3 to Ferrum.
RANDOLPH COLLEGE - MEN'S
Daniel Hidalgo and
Benjamin Fleming would face a tough matchup against Nicolas Alvarado and Dev Mani and would fall 8-4.
Patrick Buckler and
Angel Araiza would pick up an 8-2 win in the #2 spot, while
Ivan Ponce and
Michael York would round out the doubles with an 8-6 win.
In singles,
Angel Araiza would fall in a 3rd set tiebreaker in singles #4 with scores of 6-1, 0-6, and 10-12.
Ivan Ponce would pick up an 8-4 win while
Michael York would finish the singles for the Pacers with an 8-5 win.
RANDOLPH COLLEGE - WOMEN'S
The Pacers would face a tough squad, with #1 doubles
Hayley McNair and
Camryn Straughn falling in a tough battle by a score of 8-5. Straughn would pick up the lone win for the Pacers in #2 singles with a 10-3 win.
MARY BALDWIN - MEN'S
The Pacers would pick up their first win of the season at Mary Baldwin. #1 doubles
Daniel Hidalgo and
Benjamin Fleming would fall 8-7 in a tiebreaker.
Patrick Buckler and
Angel Araiza would pick up their second doubles win of the season with an 8-2 win, with
Michael York and
Ivan Ponce sweeping in the #3 spot 8-0.
Fleming would fall in #1 singles in a 3rd set tiebreaker. At the #2 spot, Buckler would win 6-2, 6-0, while Hidalgo would take a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Araiza would win at the #4 spot 6-1, 6-0, while Ponce and York would round out the singles with 6-0, 6-0 sweeps.
FERRUM - MEN'S
The Pacers would take another 7-2 win over Ferrum, with Hidalgo and Fleming falling in a close tiebreaker. Buckler and Araiza would go 3-0 on the weekend with an 8-2 win, while Ponce and York would pick up another 8-0 sweep.
In singles, Buckler would take a 6-2, 6-0 win at the #2. Hidalgo and Ponce would both sweep 6-0, 6-0, while Araiza would win 6-1, 6-0, and York would close out the Pacers with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
FERRUM - WOMEN'S
Hayley McNair and
Camryn Straughn would dominate in the #1 doubles with an 8-1 victory. McNair would go on to win 6-0, 6-1 in #1 singles, with Straughn winning 6-1, 6-2 at the #2 spot.
Mya Sampson would fall in a 3rd set tiebreaker as the Pacers had a great showing in their regular season opener.
The Pacers will head to Shaw University for a scrimmage on February 22nd at 3PM.
