Pacers Fall To Johnson & Wales

RALEIGH, N.C. – Allye Woodruff scored 21 points for William Peace in a 75-46 women's basketball loss to Johnson & Wales (N.C.) at the Hermann Athletic Center on Friday.

Woodruff knocked down 5 of 12 three-pointers for the Pacers, who dropped to 3-6 overall. Brene'a Daye added eight points and six rebounds and the trio of Nautica Smiley, Nora Williams and Zia Prim each collected eight rebounds.

Woodruff scored 10 of her 21 points in the fourth period as the Pacers came alive. The Pacers finished the contest in a flourish, outscoring the Wildcats 18-11 in the final period.

But the margin was too large for the Pacers, who fell behind 20-7 after the first period and 49-18 at halftime. The Pacers shot 21.7 percent from the floor, including 22.2 percent behind the three-point arc.

The Wildcats, led by 13 points from Jamway Blakeney, shot 31.1 percent including 18.8 percent behind the three-point line. They made up for poor shooting by winning the rebounding battle 81-52 and forcing 25 turnovers which led to 32 points.

The Pacers will host a game for the second straight day on Saturday. Eastern Mennonite comes to the Hermann Athletic Center for a 2 p.m. matchup. This is the last contest for the Pacers before the holiday break.
