RALEIGH, NC -- The William Peace University Men's Basketball team had their season opener on Wednesday, November 8th against Virginia Wesleyan. The Pacers traveled to Virginia Beach, VA to face the Marlins in non-conference play. Virginia Wesleyan started strong jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes of play. The Pacers went on an 8-2 run to cut the lead to 10-8. William Peace kept the Marlins within one possession for the next 10 minutes of play. VWU ended the first half outscoring the Pacers 16-4. The Marlins continued their run through the first few minutes of the 2nd half. The Pacers got within 17 at the 10:58 mark of the 2nd half, but three straight possessions for the Marlins ended in 3 pointers, effectively sealing with game.
