HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One - UMW
Set One (17-25)
The Eagles would take an early 12-5 lead in the first set. A kill from
Mackenzie Russell and a block from
Landis Limon would bring the score to 12-8 as the Pacers battled back. A block from
Georgia Grace Anderson would put the Pacers within three as they trailed 17-14. The Eagles would go on a run to lead 23-15, and would keep the Pacers at bay to win the set 25-17.
Set Two (18-25)
The Eagles would dominate in the second set, taking an early 13-7 lead over the Pacers. They would go on a run to lead 17-8, while kills from
Georgia Grace Anderson and
Kelsey Bierbauer would put the Pacers back in striking distance as they trailed 19-15. The Eagles would again hold the Pacers late in the set to take a 25-18 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set Three (15-25)
The final set would start out as a back-and-forth contest, with a few kills from
Madeline Simpson putting the Pacers up 9-8. The Eagles would go on a run to lead 18-13 before going on a 5-point run to take the set 25-15 and the game 3-0.
Game Two - Stevenson
Set One (19-25)
The Pacers would take an early 6-3 lead with kills from
Landis Limon,
Shelby Cooper, and
Kelsey Bierbauer. A four-point run would put the Mustangs up 9-7, while a service error would even the score 15-15. The Mustangs would go on a strong run to lead 22-16, closing the set 25-19 to lead 1-0.
Set Two (18-25)
The set would be tied 5-5 early and then again at 8-8 before a 5-point run would put the Mustangs up 14-8. A kill by
Shelby Cooper would keep the Pacers in it as they trailed 16-13, but the Mustangs would hold them off to win the set 25-18.
Set Three (18-25)
In the final set, the Mustangs would take a strong 12-7 lead over the Pacers. Kills from
Shelby Cooper would bring the score to 15-11 as the Pacers battled, but a 4-point run would give Stevenson a 23-16 lead. They would hold off the Pacer effort to win 25-18 and the match 3-0.
