RALEIGH, NC -- Following two successful scrimmages in the preseason, William Peace University men's soccer will open the regular season on the road on September 1st against Randolph College at 4PM. The Pacers return to play after a historic 2021 season where they finished 12-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the conference, clinching a USA South regular season championship after posting the best record in program history. Their regular season championship also marked the first championship for any men's program in school history. The team was also voted #1 in the USA South Coaches Preseason Poll for the upcoming season.
The Pacers have never faced the Wildcats in a regular season contest, though the teams scrimmaged last August. The Pacers feature 20 returners to the roster, including
Jorge Lemus, who led the team with 29 points (12 goals and 5 assists) last season.
The Wildcats were picked to finish 7th in the ODAC. In the 2021 season, the team fell in the ODAC semifinals to the University of Lynchburg after going 14-3-2 overall.
