Softball Picks Up 10th USA South Conference Victory With Sweep Over Southern Virginia

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University softball continued their winning streak as they clinched their 9th in a row, defeating SVU in game one 9-0 and game two 12-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One

The Pacers would get out to an early 1-0 lead at the top of the 1st as Candice Smith would score to put them in the lead. At the top of the 5th, a single from Dara Orr would score Anna Suggs to put WPU up 2-0. A walk for Lauren Conway would bring in Nadia Pittman and bring the score to 3-0, while a double from Candice Smith would score Dara Orr and Emily Puckett to put the Pacers up 5-0. A single from Adayna Day would score Conway for a 6-0 lead, while a homerun from Megan McAnany would score Day and Smith and secure a 9-0 win for the Pacers.

Game Two
A triple from Lydia Hunt at the top of the first would score Logan Ayers and put the Pacers up 1-0. A sacrifice fly from Adanya Day would bring home Hunt for a 2-0 lead. At the top of the second, a double from Nadia Pittman would bring in Preston Hawkins for a score of 3-0, while a single from Lydia Hunt would score Pittman for a 4-0 lead. Adanya Day would single to center field to score Logan Ayers and put the Pacers up 5-0.

At the top of the 4th, Chloe Moore would score on a fielding error for a 6-0 lead. A single from Anna Suggs would score Adanya Day to put the Pacers up 7-0. Anna Suggs would score on a throw to put the Pacers ahead 8-0. At the top of the 5th, Adanya Day would drive in Lydia Hunt and Chloe Moore with a homerun to give the Pacers an 11-0 advantage. Cassidy Maitland would double to left field to score Cora Rebert for a 12-0 score. The Knights would add three runs in the bottom of the 5th on a home run from D. Jones, but the Pacers would hold them to secure a 12-3 win.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS
  • Adanya Day went 3 for 3 in game one and 2 for 3 in game two with one HR, adding 5 RBIs.
  • Katherine Murphy notched 6 strikeouts in game one, while Anna Suggs tallied 6 strikeouts in game two.
FOR THE FOES
  • D. Jones went 2 for 2 in game one, adding a home run and 3 RBIs in game two.
