Softball Wins 7th In A Row With Sweep Of NCWC

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University softball won their seventh in a row as they swept NCWC in a doubleheader contest. The Pacers took game one by a score of 5-1, before shutting out the Battling Bishops 1-0 in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One

Pitcher Katherine Murphy would keep the Battling Bishops at bay early in the first few innings. Adanya Day would get the Pacers on the board in the bottom of the 4th with a homerun to put the score at 1-0. The Battling Bishops would tie it 1-1 at the top of the sixth on a single to left field. A double from Anna Suggs would score Logan Ayers for a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 6th. Nadia Pittman would single to score Megan McAnany and bring the score to 3-1, while a single from Emily Puckett would drive in Anna Suggs for a 4-1 lead. Dara Orr would bring in Nadia Pittman to put the Pacers up 5-1 and secure the win over NCWC.

Game Two
Game two would be a battle between the pitchers as neither team was able to get anything going early. Anna Suggs would tally 3 strikeouts throughout seven innings, while allowing just 4 hits and no runs. Lauren Conway would get the Pacers on the board in the bottom of the fifth with a single to center field scoring Emily Puckett for a 1-0 lead. The Pacers would hold the Battling Bishops and take a 1-0 win.
