Baseball Splits With SVU On Senior Day

RALEIGH, NC – William Peace University baseball split with SVU in a doubleheader, winning game one 6-0 and falling in game two 7-2. The Pacer also honored seniors Logan Barbour, Gerard Chamra, Brendan Shea, Jake Norris, Ethan May, and Kevin Gonzalez for senior day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE

In the bottom of the 1st, a double from Brett Kemp would bring home Logan Barbour for a 1-0 lead. Jake Dacunto would bring in Hunter Ward for a 2-0 lead. Pitcher Nathaniel Varnier would shut down the Knights, only allowing one hit in all seven innings. At the top of the 4th, Patrick Rogan would bring in Jake Dacunto for a 3-0 lead. A single from Kevin Gonzalez would score Cameron Butler for a 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the 5th, Brett Kemp would steal home for a 5-0 Pacer lead, while in the bottom of the 6th, Logan Barbour would drive in Sean Roseborough to secure the 6-0 win.

GAME TWO
The Pacers would take an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st on a double from Hunter Ward and a sacrifice fly from Brett Kemp. The Knights would tie it at the top of the 5th with a double before taking a 3-2 lead on a single to center field. At the top of the 6th, a single and a walk would give the Knights a 5-2 lead. At the top of the 8th, a single would put the Knights up 7-2, and the Pacers were unable to recover, falling 7-2 in game two.

  • W. Parker went 3 for 5 in game two with 2 RBIs.
NEXT GAME
The Pacers will await USA South Conference Tournament seeding as they will begin tournament play on May 5th.
