Late Rally Sends Monarchs Over Pacers

CARY, NC - William Peace University men's lacrosse fell by a close score of 17-16 to Methodist University.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Monarchs would get on the board first to lead 1-0, but a goal from Nick Falso would tie it 1-1. Riely Murray would find Tristan Carter, who would put one away to give the Pacers a 2-1 lead. The Monarchs would respond with two back-to-back goals to lead 3-2, but a goal from Drew Von Werne would tie the game 3-3. Nick Falso would add his second goal to give the Pacers a 4-3 lead heading into the 2nd. 

Nick Falso would put the Pacers up 5-3 early in the 2nd, assisted by William Murray. The Monarchs would add 3 consecutive goals to take a 6-5 lead before another goal from Falso, this time assisted by Devin Noonan, would bring the score to 6-6. The Monarchs would take a brief 7-6 lead, but Nick Falso would tie it 7-7 with an assist from Drew Von Werne. Devin Noonan would tally a late goal to send the Pacers into halftime leading 8-7.

William Murray would score early in the third to put the Pacers up 9-7. The Monarchs would add 3 straight goals to lead 10-9 before a goal from Brewer Warlick would tie it 10-10. Methodist would add one more to lead 11-10, but Nick Falso would score on the man-up and Drew Von Werne would add a late goal to put the Pacers up 12-11.

In the 4th, the Monarchs would notch 5 consecutive goals to take a big 16-12 lead. Brewer Warlick would cut the lead to 16-13, but another Monarch goal would put them up 17-13. The Pacers would rally with goals from Nick Falso, Drew Von Werne, and Riely Murray, but they would be unable to complete the rally and would fall 17-16.
