McAnany's Grandslam Helps Secure 2-0 Sweep Over Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, VA -- William Peace University softball swept Mary Baldwin College 2-0, winning game one 10-0 and game two 9-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One

The Pacers would start strong in game one, with pitcher Katherine Murphy shutting down the Fighting Squirrels. Dara Orr would score on an error to put the Pacers up 1-0 at the top of the 1st. A double from Adanya Day would put the Pacers up 3-0, while a single from Anna Suggs would bring the score to 4-0. At the top of the 2nd, a single from Megan McAnany would put the Pacers ahead 6-0, while a single from Anna Suggs would also bring in two runs for an 8-0 lead. A triple from Nadia Pittman at the top of the 4th would increase the Pacer lead to 9-0, while a homerun from Candice Smith at the top of the 5th would help secure the 10-0 Pacer win. 

Game Two
A homerun from Logan Ayers at the top of the 3rd would give the Pacers an early 2-0 lead. The Fighting Squirrels would battle back in the bottom of the second, taking a 4-2 lead on a few singles. At the top of the 4th, Dara Orr would cut the lead to 4-3 with a single to score Nadia Pittman, while a single from Adanya Day would tie it 4-4. A grandslam from Megan McAnany at the top of the 4th would give the Pacers an 8-4 lead, while a single from Candice Smith at the top of the 5th would secure a 9-4 victory.
