Softball Falls To #1 Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, VA -- William Peace University fell to #1 Christopher Newport University in a non conference matchup. The Pacers will be back in action against Methodist University on Saturday, April 16 for senior day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One

The Captains would take a strong 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Kaitlyn Hasty would record a home run over left field. They would add another run to lead 4-0. Both teams would battle throughout the next few innings until the top of the 4th when a homerun from Megan McAnany would score Adanya Day to cut the Captains' lead to 4-2. The Captains would add two home runs in the bottom of the inning to take a dominant 8-2 lead. They would add two more runs in the 5th and 6th innings despite good defense from the Pacers to take a 10-2 win.

Game Two
The Pacers would get on the board at the top of the first as Megan McAnany would drive in Logan Ayers for a 1-0 lead. The Captains would get the bats going in the bottom of the second, adding two home runs, singles, and a double to take a commanding 14-1 lead. They would add two more runs in the bottom of the third to lead 16-1 while holding off the Pacers, securing a 16-1 win.
