Baseball Falls In Extra Innings Of Thrilling Contest Against NCWC

ROCKY MOUNT, NC – William Peace University baseball fell just short in a rally against NCWC, falling 16-15 in extra innings. The Pacers went 1-2 in the series, and now move to 16-13 overall and 6-6 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pacers would take an early 2-0 lead at the top of the first on a fielding error to lead 2-0. In the bottom of the 1st, the Battling Bishops would take advantage of a few doubles to take a 7-2 lead. Logan Barbour would single at the top of the second to bring in Jake Norris and cut the lead to 7-3. A sacrifice fly from Cameron Butler would score Nick Tyler and bring the score to 7-4 at the top of the 3rd. The Battling Bishops would add a run in the bottom of the third to lead 8-4.

In the bottom of the 4th, a single would put NCWC up 9-4. At the top of the 5th, Brett Kemp would score on a wild pitch for a score of 9-5, but in the bottom of the inning NCWC would add a run on a double for a 10-5 lead. A grandslam from Brett Kemp would put the Pacers within one at the top of the 6th as they trailed 10-9. Griffin Sandstrum's double would bring in two runs and put the Pacers up 11-10.

The Battling Bishops would retake the lead in the bottom of the 7th by a score of 13-11. At the top of the 8th, a single from Adam Joseph would bring in Nick Tubolino and Patrick Rogan to tie the game 13-13. A sacrifice fly from Nick Tyler would regain a 14-13 Pacer lead. The Battling Bishops would again tie the game 14-14 in the bottom of the 8th.

Nick Tubolin would double to center field at the top of the 9th would put the Pacers back up 15-14, but the Battling Bishops would tie it 15-15 in the bottom of the 9th. In extra innings, NCWC would hold the Pacers before scoring in the bottom of the 10th to take a 16-15 win.
