Baseball Splits Doubleheader With SUNY Brockport

CARY, NC -- William Peace University baseball split a doubleheader with SUNY Brockport, falling 6-0 in game one but taking game two by a score of 4-2. The Pacers now move to 9-5 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE
The Golden Eagles would get on the board at the top of the second as they loaded the bases and would walk in and run to lead 1-0. A sac fly from J. Pangburg would score R. Voight to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0. J. Houlahan would drive home two runs with a single to left field to give SUNY Brockport a 4-0 lead after two innings.

At the top of the 4th, the Golden Eagles would add another run on a balk to give them a 5-0 lead. Pitcher Andrew Huffman would keep the Pacers at bay as he tallied 10 strikeouts in the game. A double to right center from R. Voight at the top of the 7th would give the Golden Eagles their final run of the game as they took a 6-0 win over the Pacers.

GAME TWO
A single from Hunter Ward in the bottom of the 1st would bring home Logan Barbour to give the Pacers a 1-0 advantage. The Golden Eagles would tie it 1-1 with a double to left field at the top of the 2nd for a score of 1-1. At the top of the 4th, a homerun from J. Sisto would give the Golden Eagles a 2-1 lead. 

The Pacers would tie it 2-2 in the bottom of the 5th on a fielding error. A single to right field from Hunter Ward would bring home Logan Barbour to put the Pacers up 3-2. Hunter Ward would steal home to bring the score to 4-2. The Pacers would hold off the Golden Eagles for the remaining two innings to take the 4-2 win and split the series.

  • Andrew Huffman was on the mound for all 7 innings for the Golden Eagles, notching 10 strikeouts, allowing no runs and just 3 hits.
NEXT GAME
The Pacers will head to High Point, NC to take on Greensboro College and Adrian College. The Pacers will face Adrian at 11 AM and Greensboro at 2PM.
