Baseball Rallies To Take Down Maroons

CARY, NC -- William Peace University baseball rallied in the 7th inning to come back and defeat the Roanoke Maroons by a score of 8-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pacers would get two quick outs at the top of the first before a few fielding errors would allow the Maroons to take a 2-0 lead. A home run from Jonny Wall would put the Maroons up 3-0, but Jake Dacunto would notch the final out for the Pacers to send them into the bottom of the 1st.

At the top of the third, the Maroons would single up the middle to drive home another run and lead 4-0. They would add another at the top of the 4th on a fielding error to lead 5-0. In the bottom of the 5th, Patrick Rogan would single to left center to drive home Jake Dacunto to put the Pacers on the board as they trailed 5-1. Sean Roseborough would send Dacunto home on a single to left field to bring the score to 5-2. 

In the bottom of the sixth, Brett Kemp would come home to cut the Maroons' lead to 5-3. A sacrifice fly from Sean Roseborough would put the Pacers within one as Jake Dacunto crossed home plate to bring the score to 5-4. 

In the bottom of the 7th, a triple from Brett Kemp would send home Hunter Ward and Nick Tyler to give the Pacers their first lead of the game with a score of 6-5. Jake Dacunto would bring home Kemp for a score of 7-5, while a bunt from Cameron Butler would score Patrick Rogan to give the Pacers an 8-5 lead.

The Maroons would battle back at the top of the 8th, scoring runs on a triple, but the Pacers would hold them to a score of 8-7 to close out the game with a win.

The Pacers will host Elmira College on February 24th for a doubleheader beginning at 3 PM.
