HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One - NCWU
Set One (25-14)
The Pacers would take a strong 9-6 lead in set one, with kills from
Shelby Cooper,
Landis Limon, and
Mackenzie Russell putting them up 13-8. Another kill from Russell and an ace from
Kelsey Bierbauer would put the team up 21-12, while final blocks from
Hannah Collier and Limon would end the set 25-14.
Set Two (25-22)
The second set would be a back-and-forth matchup as it would be tied 8-8 early. Kills from
Kelsey Bierbauer and
Georgia Grace Anderson would put the Pacers up 19-15, while a final kill from
Shelby Cooper would end the set 25-22.
Set Three (25-18)
The Pacers would dominate early to lead 11-5 on a kill from
Kelsey Bierbauer. A 4-point run with kills from
Shelby Cooper and
Landis Limon would put WPU up 18-9. A final kill from Limon would end the set 25-18 and the game 3-0.
Game Two - Salem
Set One (22-25)
A few aces from
Mackenzie Russell would put the Pacers up 4-0 early. The Spirits would tie it up 10-10 before the Pacers would take a 16-11 lead. The Spirits would battle back to go on a run to lead 23-18, and would put away the final points to win 25-22.
Set Two (25-19)
The Pacers would take a strong 11-6 lead in the second set with a few kills from
Hannah Collier. Kills from
Landis Limon and
Georgia Grace Anderson would increase their lead to 16-12. A 5-point run with kills from Anderson, Collier, and
Shelby Cooper would bring the score to 22-16, with a final block from Limon and Collier ending the set 25-19 and tying the match 1-1.
Set Three (17-25)
The Spirits would take an early 9-7 lead in set three before going on a run to lead 16-11. The Pacers would battle back within a few on an ace from
Hannah Collier and a kill from
Shelby Cooper to trail 20-16, but the Spirits would go on a final run to win 25-17.
Set Four (25-18)
In the fourth set, kills from
Hannah Collier,
Georgia Grace Anderson, and
Kelsey Bierbauer would put the Pacers up 9-6. An ace from
Mackenzie Russell would bring the score to 13-8, while a few aces from
Logan Moore would increase the lead to 20-11. A final ace from
Hannah Ward would end the set 25-18 and tie the match 2-2.
Set Five (15-10)
The final set would be tied 5-5 early. A late 4-point run with a few attack errors and a block from
Landis Limon and
Hannah Collier would put the Pacers up 12-8. An ace from
Hannah Ward and a kill from
Landis Limon would end the set 15-10 and secure the 3-2 win for the Pacers.
