Second Half Propels Monarchs Over Pacers

Fayetteville, NC -- William Peace University women's basketball fell to Methodist University in a close contest. The Pacers would trail by just 39-31 at the half, but a push in the final quarters would give the Monarchs a 74-60 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first quarter would be a back-and-forth contest, with a free throw from Stormie Brown tying it 5-5. A layup from Cierra Baker would put the Pacers up 9-7, with a free throw from Kiera Williams putting them up 12-9. The Monarchs would battle back to take a 17-14 lead, but a free throw from Ninevah Reddick would tie it 19-19. A final shot from behind the arc and a layup from the Monarchs would give them a 22-19 lead.
  • A layup from Cierra Baker would cut Methodist's lead to 26-23 early in the 2nd quarter, but the Monarchs would go on a roll to lead 34-27. A jumper from Stephanie Chandler would cut the  lead down to 37-31, but the Monarchs would head into the half leading 39-31.
