Pacers Improve To 3-1 In Conference Play With Sweep Over Pfeiffer

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University volleyball swept Pfeiffer University 3-0 on Tuesday, September 28th, taking advantage of the electric energy from fans in the Hermann Athletic Center. This marks a big conference win for the Pacers, with the Falcons having just come off of a 3-2 win over defending USA South East Division Champions, Averett University. The Pacers now improve to 3-1 in conference play and will look to climb higher on Friday, October 1st with two conference games against Averett University and Salem College following their nonconference matchup against Virginia Wesleyan University on Thursday, September 30th.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One (25-10)
The Pacers would dominate set one early, taking a 4-0 lead with two kills from Shelby Cooper and two service aces from Mackenzie Russell. Kills from Landis Limon and Cooper would bring the score to 8-1, while a 5-point run would put the Pacers ahead 15-3. Two kills by Hannah Collier would increase the Pacer lead to 20-6, and the Pacers would take advantage of a few attack errors to secure set one 25-10.

Set Two (25-15)
In set two, the Falcons would gain an early 4-2 advantage, but a 6-point run by the Pacers would give WPU an 8-4 edge. Kills from Kelsey Bierbauer, Mackenzie Russell, and Georgia Grace Anderson would bring the score to 11-5. The Falcons would climb back within two as they trailed 16-14, but a final 6-point run from the Pacers would earn a 25-15 set win.

Set Three (26-24)
In the final set, the Pacers would go on an incredible 10-point run, with kills from Kelsey Bierbauer, Landis Limon, and Georgia Grace Anderson as well as four service aces from Emerson Scollo. A service ace by Hannah Collier would give the Pacers a 19-10 lead, but the Falcons would make an impressive comeback to tie the set 22-22. The end of the game would go back-and-forth, but the Pacers would grab the last two points to win 26-24 and take the match 3-0.
