RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University volleyball will open up the regular season on Wednesday, September 1st at 5 PM defending ODAC champion Washington and Lee University. The Pacers went 14-2 overall in the Spring of 2021, going 7-0 in regular season conference play and competing in the USA South East Division Championship.
Returner Hannah Collier helped lead the Pacers in the Spring 2021, tallying 127 kills, 162 digs, and 20 service aces. Landis Limon was just behind her with 126 kills, while Shelby Cooper notched 109.
Coach Nicole Barringer is excited to begin the season, saying, "I am super excited about this team because of their excitement about the season, willingness to make mistakes in order to get better and hard work every day to achieve our goals. The team camaraderie and chemistry is unmatched which is a hard thing to coach. We have built a culture on this program the last few years and everyone in our program has bought into it and understands that what they are a part of is much bigger than themselves. They push each other to get better every day and we are a better team because of that. I could not be more excited about this group of girls and the fact that we don't have any seniors which gives us 2 years together. We might be a little young, but it's hard to tell by the way we play together as a team."
Historically, the Pacers are 0-3 against Washington and Lee University, with the last matchup taking place on September 21st, 2019. The Generals had an impressive Spring 2021 season, going 16-0 overall, winning the ODAC Title over Randolph-Macon College.
The Pacers will head to Averett University for the Cougar Classic on September 3rd and 4th, facing Roanoke College, Piedmont College, Shenandoah University, and Washington and Lee. The team opens conference play on September 22nd against North Carolina Wesleyan College.
