Win Over Greensboro Sends Pacers To USA South East Division Championship

Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University Volleyball defeated Greensboro College 3-1 in the USA South East Division semifinals. The Pacers will move on to the championship, hosting Averett University on Saturday, April 17th.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
Set One (25-21)

The Pacers would go back-and-forth in the first set, with an early lead of 5-3 from a kill by Hannah Collier. The Pride would take a brief 11-8 lead, but the Pacers would soon make a comeback of 18-16 with a kill from Brittany Carpenter. The Pacers would then secure the first set off of a service error, to get a win of 25-21. 

Set Two (25-14)
The Pacers would keep a lead in set two with Landis Limon and Hannah Collier's block to keep them up 11-3. Shelby Cooper provided a kill to bring the score to 15-8 and Brianna Laskowski would soon help bring the lead to 20-11. Landis Limon would then close out the second set with a kill, to bring the final score to 25-14 and give the Pacers a 2-0 lead in the game.

Set Three  (22-25)
In the third set, the Pacers would trail early 8-5 from a Pride kill by Natalie Rosinski. Shelby Cooper had a kill that would help bring the score to 14-11, and then Hannah Collier's kill brought the Pacers within two as they trailed 23-21. The Pride would then take the third set 25-22 despite great effort from the Pacers.

Set Four (25-11)
The fourth set would start off close, but Logan Moore's ace would soon put the Pacers up 8-7. Nancy Gamewell would continue the lead with a kill and put the Pacers up 18-10.  Brittany Carpenter would provide two back-to-back aces to bring the score to 24-11 and Brienna Laskowski would close out the set with a kill. The Pacers would win the fourth set 25-11to secure their appearance in the USA South East Division Championship.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS FOR THE FOES 
  • Carly Uhlir tallied a total of 11 kills over the four sets.
STATS OF THE GAME 
  • The Pacers notched 9 service aces.
