Warlick Tallies 5 In Win Over Cougars

Cary, NC -- William Peace University men's lacrosse won a dominating game over the Averett Cougars by a score of 16-6. The Pacers were able to pull ahead in the early minutes of the match, keeping the momentum throughout the game while holding the Cougars offense at bay.

THE BASICS
  • Final score: William Peace 16, Averett 6
  • Records: William Peace (4-8, 2-4), Methodist (4-7, 0-6)
  • Location: Danville, VA
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pacers would start the game off strong as Riely Murray would net the first goal of the game at the 8:36 minute mark. The Pacers then scored once again, with Cade McGrady finding the back of the net on the man-up advantage to lead 2-0. The first quarter ended with a goal from Brewer Warlick to head into the second period leading 3-1.
  • The second quarter started out strong for the Pacers as August Bynum would score at the 13 minute mark, bumping their lead to 4-1. The Cougars quickly retaliated and scored 2 quick goals to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Pacers found their stride once again and finished the quarter with 2 more goals from Nick Falso and Brewer Warlick to head into halftime leading 6-3.
  • The beginning of the third quarter started with both teams scoring quickly to bring the score to 7-4. The Pacers would then score four goals in a row - two from Brewer Warlick, one from Scout Philipp and one from Nick Falso to head into the final period leading 11-4.
  • The first goal of the fourth period would be from the Pacers' Cade McGrady, to start out the final quarter strong. The Cougars would cut the deficit down to 13-6, but goals from Devin Noonan, Nick Falso, and Riely Murray would secure the Pacers a 16-6 win.
