Pacers Conclude Impressive Season With Loss In East Division Final

0Cary, NC -- The William Peace University men's soccer team concluded their impressive season in the USA South East Division Championship, falling to Greensboro College 1-0. The Pacers finish the year 5-2-2 overall, with their championship appearance marking the first time in school history that a men's athletic program has made an appearance in a tournament finale.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first half consisted of both teams battling hard for possession in a very physical game. Both goalies did a great job of commanding the box while intercepting many crosses to take chances away from the opposite team, with the half ending with a score of 0-0. 
  • The second half started out strong with both teams continuing to play aggressive. The Pride capitalized early in the second half, with a goal by Jordy Bricenco to give them a 1-0 lead. As the game progressed the Pacers had many incredibly close shots, yet none were able to squeeze by the defense of the Pride. The game continued to be a physical battle, but the Pacers were unable to recover despite a fantastic effort.

Congratulations to seniors Jose Garcia, Roben Santiago, Jonathan Miller, Shymik Bradshaw, Gabe Pinon, and Austin Hallstrand on their successful season and careers with WPU.
