Pacers Sweep Monarchs In First Conference Game Of Season

Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University Volleyball swept Methodist University in their first conference matchup of the season, taking a 3-0 win to begin the season with a 1-0 conference record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One (25-16)
The Pacers would get off to a strong start in the first set, with a kill by Brittany Carpenter giving them a 3-0 lead. Carpenter would tally a service ace to increase the Pacer lead to 5-2 before the Monarchs pushed back to trail by just 6-5. A few service aces by Bergin Gillespie and a kill by Brienna Laskowski would give the Pacers a 15-7 advantage. The Pacers would tally 7 in a row to lead 22-8, before a final kill by Brienna Laskowski would secure the set 25-16.

Set Two (25-10)
In the second set, the Pacers would carry forward their momentum to lead 5-2, with a few kills coming from Kelsey Bierbauer and Landis Limon. The Pacers would continue to dominate in the second set as Brienna Laskowski grabbed 3 kills in a row for a 15-6 lead. A few errors by the Monarchs would give the Pacers a 23-8 advantage, with the final kill coming from Hanna Collier to secure a 25-10 win and a 2-0 lead in the game.

Set Three (25-18)
The Monarchs would fight back in the third set, tying it 7-7 and taking a brief 8-7 lead. The Pacers would tie the set back at 10-10 with a kill by Brienna Laskowski, while kills from Hannah Collier would bring the score to 13-10. A few attack errors would give WPU an 18-12 lead, with Kelsey Bierbauer and Hannah Collier recording the final kills of the set to win 25-18 and sweep the Monarchs 3-0.
