Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University volleyball will begin their regular season on March 4th as they match up against Averett University. The Pacers finished the 2019 season with a 24-8 overall record and a 12-4 conference record, making it to the quarterfinals of the USA South Conference Tournament.

The Pacers have several key returners, including Nancy Gamewell, Abby Benton, Emerson Scollo, Brienna Laskowski, Brittany Carpenter, Logan Moore, Shelby Cooper, and Bergin Gillespie. Laskowski recorded 410 points in the 2019 season, tallying 357 kills, with Brittany Carpenter adding 734 assists and Bergin Gillespie adding 516 digs. 

The Cougars come into 2021 after a successful 2019 season which saw them go 19-16 overall and 14-2 in the conference, eventually falling in the USA South Conference Tournament final to Maryville College.

Historically the Pacers are 6-11 against Averett as they currently hold a 5-game winning streak under Head Coach Nicole Barringer. The last contest between the teams on October 26th, 2019 brought the Pacers a 3-1 win. Abby Benton and Brienna Laskowski notched 12 kills and 11 kills, respectively, with Bergin Gillespie collecting 28 digs.
