Pacers Fall To Greensboro

Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University men's soccer fell to Greensboro College 3-2 in a close back-and-forth matchup. The Pacers would tie the game twice at 1-1 and 2-2, but were unable to tie an early second half goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pacers would get some early chances, as Rush Campbell put a shot on goalkeeper Elmer Martizener at 2:40. Jorge Lemus would come up with a few good opportunities, while Pacer goalkeeper Jacob Smith would keep the game scoreless with some strong saves. The Pride would score to lead 1-0 on a penalty kick, taken by Darli Mihindou at 20:47. Jose Aguirre would tie things up for the Pacers at 30:13 after Jose Garcia would find him over the top on a long ball at the 18. Aguirre would do well to settle and finish with his second touch to bring the score to 1-1. Greensboro would score a late goal in the first half as Shelly Scott would finish with a first time shot past Pacer goalkeeper Jacob Smith after a counterattack from the Pride to lead 2-1.

Alex Hernandex would play a curling ball in from the left side that would be headed on by Jorge Lemus, with Sammy Suazo finishing off a volley on the back post to tie the game 2-2. The Pride would respond just two minutes later, as Darli Mihindou would add his second of the night to give Greensboro a 3-2 lead. The Pacers would have a final opportunity in the last seconds of the game as Roben Santiago would serve a ball in from the left side that would find Nathan Seery, who would attempt a bicycle kick that would just go over the bar.
