Strong Second Half Propels Pacers Over Pride In Conference Opener

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University men's basketball put up a big second half to take down Greensboro College 88-83. The Pacers would trail by 9 at the half, but 26 points from Isaiah Everette-Lewis would help propel them in the second half to outscore the Pride 49-35.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pride would get out to a strong start to lead 9-3 early in the first half. A layup from Tyler Parton and a 3-pointer from Garrett Phillips would cut the Pride lead to just 13-11, but Greensboro would go on a run to lead 20-11. A shot from behind the arc from Isaiah Everette-Lewis would bring the score to 26-16 as the Pacers battled back, while a few free throws from Rashod Rouse and a 3-pointer from Smith Gupton put the Pacers back within 5 as they trailed 30-25. Rouse would tie the game 30-30 with a drive under the net, with a shot from behind the arc from Beau Bryant giving the Pacers a brief 36-34 lead. The Pride would go on a strong run to close out the first half, leading the Pacers 48-39 heading into halftime.
  • In the second half, a three-pointer from Tyler Parton would help cut into the Pride lead as the Pacers trailed 50-49. A jumper from Isaiah Everette-Lewis would tie it up 61-61, with a few free throws from Beau Bryant tying it again 63-63. Isaiah Everette-Lewis would put up a dunk on a fastbreak to put WPU ahead 65-63, with another jumper in the paint bringing the score to 69-65 in favor of the Pacers. Rashod Rouse would add 3 to increase the lead to 72-65, while another jumper from Isaiah Everette-Lewis and a few shots from the foul line would bring the score to 76-67. A few final free throws from Everette-Lewis and Donolly Tyrell Jr. would secure a hard-fought 88-83 win for the Pacers.
