Pacers Fall To St. Augustine's On Day One Of Raleigh Classic

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University women's basketball fell to St. Augustine's University 81-55 on day one of the Raleigh Classic. The Pacers will take on Shaw University on day two at 2PM.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons would get an early 12-2 lead over the Pacers in the first quarter before a layup from Kiera Williams would cut their lead to 12-4. A shot from behind the arc from Cierra Baker would bring the Falcons' lead down to 12-7, but they would continue to battle to take a 20-11, taking advantage of some late fouls to lead 22-13 at the end of the first quarter.
  • In the second quarter, a layup from Stephanie Chandler would bring the Pacers within 5 as they trailed 24-19. A jumper from Chandler would bring them within one, but the Falcons would go on a strong run to lead 39-25. The Pacers would head into halftime trailing 39-28.
  • The Falcons would continue to roll in the third quarter, taking a 51-24 lead over WPU. A few free throws from Nautica Falls would chip away at the score, while a layup from Stormie Brown and a 3-pointer from Falls would bring it to 55-44. The Falcons would add a late shot from the foul line to lead 58-44 heading into the final quarter.
  • A few big shots from the Falcons early in the final quarter would bring them a 67-46 lead. A few shots from the foul line by Myla Barnes would bring the score to 75-50, but the Falcons would continue to hold the advantage in the final minutes and would come away with an 81-55 win over the Pacers.
