Pacers Drop Conference Opener To Piedmont College

The William Peace University women's lacrosse team fell to Piedmont College by a score of (19-13).

THE BASICS
  • Final score: William Peace 13 , Piedmont College 19  
  • Records: William Peace (1-2) (0-1), Piedmont College (2-2) (1-0)
  • Location: Holly Springs, NC
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pacers started off the game by going up (2-0) in the first four minutes of the game with a back-to-back goals from Allison Schaper. The Lions of Piedmont College brought the score to (2-1). Allison Schaper and Rylie Toomey would respond offensively for the Pacers and to bring the score to (4-1). The Lions would respond with two unanswered goals (4-3), but Allison Schaper responded once again with two goals — one goal from free position and one from a man down position to bring the score to (6-3). 
  • Piedmont would end the Schaper hot-streak with two unanswered goals (6-5). Allison Schaper ended the Lion's run with a solo goal to put the score at (7-5) . The Lions would score three goals to put them in the lead (8-7).  The Pacers would end the Lion's run with a goal from Allison Schaper to tie the game up (8-8). The Pacers would take this momentum and respond with a goal from Anne Evans (9-8). The Lions would tie it up with four minutes left in the first half (9-9). Both teams would rally again with one minute left to tie the game before going into the second half with goal from Allison Schaper sending the Pacers into halftime with a  (10-10) score.
  • The Pacers would score first in the second half with a goal from Rylie Toomey  to put the score at (11-10). After rallying back and forth, the Lions would score back-to-back to put them in the lead (12-11). Schaper added another goal on the day with an assist from Rylie Toomey to tie the game (12-12). Piedmont responded with a goal to stop the Pacers momentum to bring them back in the lead (13-12).
  • The Piedmont Lions would score again to put them in the lead by two (14-12). The contest would continue to go back and forth until the Lions would score again on a man u position (15-12). Piedmont would score again, but Rylie Toomey would stop their momentum with a goal (16-13). The Lions added another goal to put the score at (17-13), and it would be too little too late and the Pacers would hold off the opponents offense for the remainder of the game. Piedmont sealed the deal with two goals in the final minutes of the game for a final score of (19-13).
