Pacers Rally In Second Half But Fall In Overtime

The William Peace University men's lacrosse team fell (12-11) in overtime to the Ferrum Panthers.

THE BASICS
  • Final score: William Peace 12, Ferrum 11
  • Records: William Peace (1-2), Ferrum (2-1)
  • Location: Ferrum, VA

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Dalton Albright would get the game started for the Pacers as he scored within the first minute to give WPU the lead (1-0). Ferrum would respond quickly to tie it up (1-1) before adding another goal a minute later to takeover the lead (2-1). Panther goalie Patrick Martinek would stop Tre Galligan's shot before the Panthers would add another 2 quick goals (4-1). Martinek continued to shut down the Pacer offense as Ferrum continued to roll as they led (7-1) at the end of the first period. 
  • The Pacers would find their game a bit in the second period as they shut down the Panthers early in the quarter. The Panther offense, however, continued to be strong as Jack Sheehan would tally a goal at 7:30 (8-1). Adrian Brown would give the Pacers some life as he scored on the man-up opportunity (8-2), while Nick Falso would add a goal with 1:31 remaining in the period to send the Pacers into the half trailing (8-3).
  • The Pacers would continue to build their game in the third period as Adrian Brown would add another goal, assisted by Nick Falso, to bring the score to (9-4). Anthony Florian would add his own goal at 1:46 as the Pacers continued to trail (9-5), but Ferrum would respond moments later to take a (10-5) lead heading into the 4th period.
  • In the final period, the Panthers would add an early goal as Jack Sheehan would find the back of the net again (11-5). Nick Falso would score on an assist from Finn McGrady to close the gap to (11-6), with Anthony Florian adding another goal less than 30 seconds later to bring the score to (11-7). Florian would tally another with a few minutes left in the game (11-8), while Brewer Warlick's goal would bring the Pacers within 2 (11-9). Parker Beebe would score on the man advantage (11-10). Nick Falso would complete the comeback for the Pacers to tie the game (11-11), but the Panthers would end the game in overtime to win (12-11).

FOR THE FOES
  • Jack Sheehan added 5 goals for the Panthers.
  • Patrick Martinek recorded 13 saves in net for Ferrum. 
 
STATS OF THE GAME
  • The Pacers had 25 shots on goal in comparison to Ferrum's 21.
  • WPU tallied 25 ground balls.
