Pacers Impress In Home Opener With Win Over Marymount

The William Peace University men's lacrosse team defeated Marymount University (14-12) on February 16th, 2020.

THE BASICS
  • Final score: William Peace 14, Marymount 12

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Michael Burnswould get the game started for Marymount with a quick goal (1-0). The Pacers would not hold their heads down as they continued to battle. Nick Falso would score back-to-back goals to give the Pacers a lead over Marymount (3-1). Tre Galligan would answer for the Pacers soon after with 3 minutes left in the first (3-1). Marymount would go on to have 4 more shot attempts before the end of the quarter, but none would see the back of the net.
  • Brewer Warlick would get the second quarter started quickly with an early shot attempt that went wide. Less than a minute after that, the Pacers would see the back of the net one more time with a goal by Tre Galligan (4-1) on the man-up advantage. Marymount would go on a 4 point run to take the lead with 3 of the goals being scored by Hunter Ralston. Marymount would dominate the rest of the second quarter, as the Pacers went into halftime trailing (7-6).
  • Many shots would be taken back-and-forth between the two teams before Marymount's Hunter Ralston would find the back of the net 2 more times within one minute (9-6). Tre Galligan, Finn McGrady, and Brewer Warlick would not let that go unanswered as they added 3 into the back of the net to go into the third quarter with a tie score of (9-9). .
  • The Pacers would show their dominance early into the 4th quarter as they scored 2 goals from Riely Murray and Brewer Warlick (11-9). Afterwards, both teams would find themselves exchanging blows with neither finding the advantage until the Pacers increased their lead over Marymount. A late goal by Anthony Florian would seal the deal for the Pacers as they would take a (14-12) lead over Marymount with only 22 seconds left in the game.
