The William Peace Women's Basketball team improved to 6-0 in USA South conference play with a 67-58 win over the Cougars of Averett University. Khadijah Daniels scored 9 of her season-high 25 points in the fourth quarter. In the closing minutes of the fourth quarter with the Pacers up by 9 Lauren Cross would close the game out at the line going 3 for 4.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED

Camryn Lunsford would get the game started for the Cougars as she would get to the line early going 1 for 2. The Pacers answered right back with a jumper from Cierra Baker. The Cougars would then go on a 10 point run, setting the Pacers back (5-14). Khadijah Daniels would end the run with a layup with under three minutes left in the quarter. The quarter would end with the Cougars ahead by a score of (7-16).

In the second quarter, the Pacers would dominate the scoring and cut the Cougars' lead. The Pacers would find their points early in the second quarter with help from Kiera Williams. Williams would score the first five points of the quarter for the Pacers. Khadijah Daniels would then continue to give the Pacers life as she would score six points in the final 2 minutes of the half. This would cut the Cougars lead to 3 points as the Pacers trailed (27-30) at the half.

The Cougars started the second half with a 3 pointer from Courtney Scott. That however would not stop the Pacers or slow them down at all as they outscored the Cougars in the third quarter (23-15). The Pacers would go on an 8 point run to snatch the lead from the Cougars who had maintained the lead for the majority of the game (40-38). Cierra Baker would end the quarter with a big 3, assisted by Chrystal Jerome (50-45).

In the fourth and final quarter, the Pacers did not take their foot off the gas pedal. The Pacers would have great success in the paint in the fourth quarter. William Peace's defense would come up big in the fourth quarter as they held the Cougars to 13 fourth quarter points, their lowest of the game. The Pacers would hold off Averett and continue their winning streak as it now reaches 8 games.
