Pacers continue their winning streak with a sweep in the Wildcat Invitational

Denver, CO--- The William Peace University women's volleyball team concluded the Wildcat Invitational in Denver, CO against Lewis and Clark College on September 7 at 1 p.m. The Pacers came into the matchup with a five game winning streak and swept the Pioneers 3-0, improving their record to (6-0). 

 

In set one, junior Brienna Laskowski got the Pacer offense rolling with a big kill assisted by senior Sarah Scott. This set was full of offense and juniors Abby Benton and Brittany Carpenter had back-to-back kills giving the Pacers a 7-5 lead. Jenna Timmerman was an offensive threat for Lewis and Clark and they would take the lead 21-20. Sarah Scott had back-to-back service aces late in the first set giving the Pacers the lead, while a big kill from senior Mya Parks ended the first set for a final score 25-22.

 

Mya Parks continued the offense with a kill to put the Pacers on the board first in the second set. Brienna Laskowski got set two rolling with multiple kills to put the Pacers on top 11-6. Abby Benton also had three kills in the final points of the third set. Pioneer's Kendall Malone kept her team in the second set but it was not enough to take down the Pacers, who won the set 25-14.

 

The Pacers would dominate in set three with fourteen kills to Lewis and Clark's eight. A .263 hitting percentage led the Pacers to a (25-17) win. Mya Parks had six kills in the third set. Michelle McGinn and Grace McCullough had some impressive kills in the third set but it just wasn't enough to take down the undefeated Pacers.

WHAT'S NEXT:

The William Peace University Pacers volleyball team will be back in action Monday, September 9th for the Guilford College Invitational. The first game is slated to start at 5 p.m. in Greensboro, NC, where the Pacers will face Salem College. Tune in and follow your undefeated Pacer volleyball team!
