Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University Women's soccer team defeated Hollins University by a score of 6-0. The Pacers now hold a record of (1-2).
The Pacers would start out on the front foot as they created multiple chances in the first minutes of play but they would not be able to convert. Freshman Raine Greene would find the breakthrough at 31:20 on the clock to put the Pacers up 1-0. Greene would double the lead for the Pacers three minutes later. Freshman Rachel Alford would score her first collegiate goal with 9 minutes left in the first half to put William Peace up 3-0.
At the beginning of the second half the Pacers continued to press forward. Raine Greene would find sophomore Grace Marion on a corner kick to widen the Pacers lead to 4-0. Rachel Alford would bring the lead up 5-0 on a pass from freshman Kyra Delaney at 63:36. Freshman Gabrielle Jones would notch her first collegiate goal at 71:37 to give the Pacers a commanding 6-0 lead. The Pacers would continue to control the rest of the game and go on to win 6-0.
THE BREAKDOWN:
- Raine Greene recorded two goals and an assist for the Pacers
- Rachel Alford also tallied two goals for the Pacers, while Kyra Delaney notched two assists.
- The WPU defense didn't allow Hollins a single shot on goal.
THE FOES:
- Kendra Rich had 15 saves in net for Hollins
