Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University volleyball team is set to start their regular season on Friday, August 30th for the Averett Cougar Classic in Danville, VA. The Pacers will open the classic with one game on Friday and will conclude with two games on Saturday, August 31st.
The Pacers enter their second season under head coach
Nicole Barringer. They look to continue their success from 2018 where they finished with a 24-6 record overall and a 15-1 conference record which was good for Co-Divisional Champions of the USA South Conference.
On Friday, the Pacers will face Southern Virginia University. This will be the first match of the regular season for both teams. The Pacers lost (0-3) to the Knights in the 2018 season in the Averett Cougar Classic.
The Pacers will face Bob Jones University and Roanoke College on Saturday. The Averett Cougar Classic will mark the first games of the season for both the Bruins and the Maroons. The Pacers and the Bruins have not played each other since the 2016 season, where the Pacers came out with a (3-0) win. William Peace faced Roanoke College once in the 2018 season suffering a (0-3) loss.
The Pacers will look to senior Mya Parks and junior Brienna Laskowski, who led the team with 338 and 296 kills in 2018, respectively. Both Parks and Laskowski also earned 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team East Division in the 2018 season.
The first serve against the Knights will be at 5:00 p.m on Friday night. Saturday the Pacers start the day at 10:00 a.m againist Bob Jones University followed by Roanoke College at 12:00 p.m.
