Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University men's soccer team will open the 2019 season on August 30th against Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA. The Pacers are coming off of an 8-5-5 record in the 2018 season, eventually losing in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament to NC Wesleyan, and will look to build on their success from last year.
This will be the Pacers first ever match-up against the Eagles of Bridgewater College. The Eagles are coming off a strong 2018 campaign, which came to an end in the ODAC championship game.
William Peace was led by Ivan Ponce and Jorge Aguilar in the 2018 season. Ponce led the team with 12 goals and 7 assists which was good USA South Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Conference, while Aguilar contributed 8 goals and 8 assists, which was good for USA South Second Team All-Conference. The Pacers averaged 1.72 goals per game while allowing 1.17 goals per game in the 2018 season.
Entering Head Coach Ryan Huber's third year, William Peace returns with 6 starting players from last year, while welcoming 19 newcomers that look to bolster the Pacers lineup.
Kickoff against Bridgewater College will start at 4:00 p.m.
