Pacers Close Series With Monarchs

The Basics:

GAME 1 - How It Happened:
  • Matthias Carter lead off the first inning with a homerun to right center, giving the Monarchs as early 1-0 lead.
  • In the top of the second inning, Will May hit a double to left field and Ethan Carmack would hit a triple to right field scoring May.
  • In the top of the third inning, the sharp offense of the Monarchs would score three runs, extending the lead to 5-0.
  • The bats continued for the Monarchs in the top of the fourth inning as Carmack hit his second triple of the game. Methodist brought in two more runs in the top of the fourth.
  • The Pacers would connect for the first time in the bottom of the fifth inning as Alec Seaton singled through the left side. Easton Payton singled up the middle but would be left stranded in the inning.
  • Carmack would hit his third triple in the top of the sixth inning and the Monarchs would go on to score five runs in the inning, taking a 12-0 lead.
  • The game would conclude after the seventh inning, with the Monarchs taking the win, 12-0.

GAME 1 - Pacer Top Performers:
GAME 1 - For the Foes:
  • Will May lead Methodist going 4-4 at the plate with three RBI's and one double.
  • Ethan Carmack finished with three triples and one RBI.
  • Matthias Carter finished with two hits, two RBI's, and one double.
  • Tristen Luck got the win on the mound, giving up only two hits and zero runs.

GAME 2 - How It Happened:
  • The Monarchs started off on top in the second game as they scored on a Pacer error in the top of the first inning.
  • The Pacers took their first lead of the afternoon beginning with a single by Easton Payton to center field. Nathan Holt followed with a single to left field, and Michael Sterne laid down a sac bunt to move Payton and Holt to scoring position. Tyler Tilson hit a sac fly, scoring Payton and Alec Seaton hit a single to left field, scoring Holt.
  • The Pacers would take a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning after a two RBI single from Payton.
  • The Monarchs would cut the Pacer lead to one after scoring one run in the top of the third inning and one in the top of the fourth.
  • In the top of the sixth inning, Methodist took over the lead with two runs.
  • In the bottom of the eighth inning, Nathan Holt opened with a single to center field. Tyler Tilson stepped up and hit a triple to right field, scoring Holt to tie the game at 5-5.
  • The Pacers and Monarchs would head into extra innings where the Monarchs would score four runs in the top of the tenth inning and would take the win, 9-5.

GAME 2 - Pacer Top Performers:
  • Nathan Holt finished with two hits.
  • Mikey Anerton went 2-4 at the plate.
  • Easton Payton finished with two hits and two RBI's.
  • McKinley Stanbery pitched nine innings giving up four earned runs and threw four strikeouts.

GAME 2 - For the Foes:
  • Jacob Austin lead the Monarchs with four hits and three RBI's.
  • Will May and Rob Wilkerson both finished with two hits and one RBI each.

What's Next
The Pacers will conclude the regular season on Friday, April 19 against LaGrange College. William Peace will take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. in LaGrange, GA.
